Commander's voice

Message from The Commander

As commander, I believe deeply in what we are doing here at the American Legion Post 288. We accept the changing needs of our community and strive to make the most of the limited resources we have. I feel blessed to have such an active group of members to continue with the traditions which have been established. I am proud of everyone in our organization as they continue to serve, donate their time, talents and/or treasures in order to insure a lifelong brotherhood, dedicated to the betterment of the individual and community.

During my term I would like to focus on these additional issues:

  • Improve Operational Efficiency of the organization. We run an efficient shop but can always strive to do more with less effort and resources.

  • Increase membership of the organization, focusing on the Gulf War era membership.

  • Increase the annual funds the organization raises so we can continue to fund all community commitments we traditionally have made and continue to cover our operational expenses.

  • Institute a long-term planning committee that will focus on larger projects and tasks which the membership will take on long after my term has ended.

To this end I would like to thank all the community members and organizations who help us continue to have a successful and relevant organization.
